Hawaii of course, will always be apart of my life.
Most know that Hawaii is
more than just
a second home to me. My productions are still on rotation
throughout the radio stations on the Islands. My contacts and connections range from
Record Labels, Promotion Companies, to many of the Artists
that I now call great friends.
"There is so
much talent on the islands of Hawaii. I feel extremely blessed to
have worked & shared the stages with them all" - Big
Ups to all the local braddahz still holdin' it down in the 808 State
- Gabe Carmona
Although we
toured the Pacific, the local locations included Waikiki Shell,
Tiki's, Don Ho's, Pipeline Cafe, Mai Thais, Kapono's, and of
course many events in the country (North Shore), and Town such
as Zanzabar.
While on Oahu, I
was blessed enough to share the stage with Wyclef Jean,
Lucky Dube, Mikey Dread,
the Marleys, and many
Hawaiian Artists such as, Oshen, Typical Hawaiians,
Fiji, Humble Soul, The Heartical Crew, Butch Helemano,
Jamin "Da Chief Ragga", Natural Vibrations, B.E.T.,
Sudden Rush, and many others. Although I feel that name
dropping artists is not my style, I mention these
artists for the fact that they are all in some way or
another, a friend or a musical influence. They
each respectfully deserve this shout out ! Still
to this day, I maintain these relationships and produce
reggae tracks for these friends.
International Reggae Star Mikey
Dread hired my services to perform for his tour (Oahu
"Rasta in Control" Tour). Most would remember Mikey Dread's productions
with the group "The Clash".
In
2001 - 2002, the groups that I performed with on
Oahu were up for a Grammy nomination for Reggae
album of the year. This was a Hobo House on the Hill
production. I will never forget the feeling we
all had during that time. The Grammy ended up going
to a Bob Marley production. Either way I was honored
to share the stage with the bands at the time. (O-Shen,
Jamin)
O-Shen, and all of the bands I
performed with are still close friends of mine.
Such beautiful people on the island of Oahu. Much
love for the opportunity, and Alooooha!!!!!
I will never
forget the day I heard one of my productions on the radio on
Oahu. I was hanging out with Typical Hawaiian's front man Thomson "Kikoman"
Enos on our way to the Volcom House on the North Shore. Kikoman
looked over at me and said..."Ya See!! now you are apart of
Hawaiian music. Whatey!!"...I'll never forget that moment.
To know that I left the Bay Area for a vacation, which turned
into a 3 year stay on Oahu, It felt UNBELIEVABLE. Before I knew
it, I was known all over Oahu and other Islands as "Braddah Gabe".
:)
My reggae
productions can be heard on the OSHEN release of "Rising
Son". Here I was hoping that O-Shen would vibe 1 or 2
tracks, but I ended up writing and producing 4 tracks on the
album.
These tracks
are: Deeper Look, Pedestrian, Sweet Thang, and Salt Water
Anthem. I added a few musical video collages of these two
tracks at the end of this page.
This album can
be found on various websites all over the internet.
Although I relocated back to the "mainland", I still hear
that these productions are played on various radio stations
and are still performed.
Here are a few
